MAKING SPACE FOR ART
What started as a passion project for Sherif Laoun to provide visibility for his artist friends, quickly snowballed into a full-blown mandate to promote artistic expression and accessibility for all artists.

With characteristic foresight, Georges Laoun allowed Sherif to integrate the Arts into the business. In 2006, father and son were each awarded the Raymon John Hnatyshyn medal for volunteerism in the Arts by the Governor General of Canada, Michaëlle Jean.
​
In 2010, Sherif passed the baton to his niece, Jennifer Laoun-Rubenstein—herself a visual artist—who continues to direct the program today.

In addition to numerous partnerships with artistic and cultural organizations, we make our spaces available to artists of all disciplines to showcase their projects: exhibitions, openings, installations, workshops, performances, and launches.
ARTIST LOVE
Aujourd’hui, nous avons besoin davantage ces espaces pour diffuser le travail des artistes qui oeuvrent dans un domaine qui est difficile et fragile. Il y a beaucoup d’artistes et il y en aura d’autres qui auront cette sensation que leur carrière est décollée par le fait de pouvoir exposer chez Georges Laoun Opticien. Merci pour tout.
